Privacy Policy
LiveSheet is a chord-chart reader that listens to you play. That sentence contains the only thing most people want to know about its privacy, so it comes first: the audio is analysed on your device and never leaves it.
The short version. LiveSheet has no advertising, no analytics, no tracking pixels and no third-party trackers of any kind. It stores the charts you write and the account you sign in with, and nothing else about you. Your microphone is used to follow the music while you play; that audio is processed in your browser, in real time, and is never recorded, transmitted or stored by us.
Who is responsible
LiveSheet is made and operated by Amit Jurgenson, an individual developer based in Israel. For anything in this policy, including requests about your data, write to hello@livesheet.music.
The microphone
This is the part worth reading carefully, because it is the part people reasonably worry about.
LiveTrack — the feature that moves the chart for you — needs to hear what you are playing. When you arm it, your browser asks your permission to use the microphone. If you grant it:
- The audio is processed inside your browser, on your device, to work out where in the song you are.
- It is not streamed to any server, not to ours and not to anyone else's.
- It is not written to disk and not retained after the moment it is analysed.
- Nothing derived from it identifies anyone. What the engine produces is a position in a chart and a tempo.
You can withdraw microphone permission at any time in your browser or operating system settings. LiveSheet keeps working as an ordinary chart reader without it; only the automatic following stops.
If you use the optional take-recording feature, LiveSheet uploads a timing log of the performance — numbers describing tempo and position over time — so that engine problems can be diagnosed. It does not upload the audio.
What is collected, and why

That is the whole list. There is no hidden category.
What is never collected
- No advertising or ad networks. LiveSheet shows no ads and is not funded by them.
- No analytics. No Google Analytics, no product analytics, no session recording, no heatmaps, no tracking pixels. We do not know which buttons you press.
- No third-party trackers of any kind, and no cookies used for tracking.
- No location data, no contacts, no photo library, no device fingerprinting.
- We do not sell, rent or share your personal data, and there is no mechanism by which we could.
Where your data is kept
LiveSheet uses a small number of service providers, each doing one job:

International transfer. The database is currently hosted in the Asia Pacific (Tokyo) region, so if you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom your data is transferred outside it. The transfer relies on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses as incorporated in our provider's terms. We intend to move the database to the European Union, and this policy will be updated when that happens.
What stays on your device
Your view preferences — fonts, bar widths, zoom, which view you had open, your capo settings — are stored in your browser's local storage on each device, not on our servers. They are specific to the address you use the app from, and clearing your browser data removes them. Nothing in them identifies you.
Your rights
If you are in the EEA or the UK, the GDPR gives you the rights to access your data, correct it, delete it, receive a copy in a portable form, object to processing, and withdraw consent. Similar rights exist in many other places. LiveSheet honours these requests wherever you live, because maintaining two standards would be more work than honouring one.
The legal bases we rely on are: performance of a contract (running the service you signed up for), consent (the microphone, and any optional contribution), and legitimate interests (keeping the service secure and working).
To exercise any of these, write to hello@livesheet.music. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Deleting your data
Ask at hello@livesheet.music and your account and its contents will be deleted. In-app account deletion and data export are being built and will replace the email route.
One honest detail about how deletion works inside the app: when you delete a chart, a setlist or a show, it is marked as deleted rather than erased immediately, so that it can be restored if you deleted it by mistake. It stops appearing in the app at once. When you ask for your account to be deleted, these are removed along with everything else. Backups are retained by our database provider for a short period and expire on their own schedule.
How long things are kept
Your account and content are kept for as long as your account exists. Timing logs from takes and any handwriting samples you chose to contribute are kept while they remain useful for improving the engine, and are not linked to your account beyond the name you supplied.
Age
LiveSheet is not intended for anyone under 16, and accounts should not be created by them. If you believe someone under 16 has an account, write to us and it will be removed.
Security
Connections use HTTPS. Access to your data is enforced at the database level, so one account cannot read another's charts. No system is perfect, and this one is maintained by one person — if you find a security problem, please report it to hello@livesheet.music and it will be taken seriously.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change materially affects what happens to your data, you will be told in the app rather than left to notice.
